Lake Garda is the largest of the Italian Lakes, with clear waters ideal for swimming and watersports. The lake's scenery varies from stunning mountains in the north, rich countryside and vineyards in the east and gentle plains backing the southern shores. The western shore is lined with cypress, olive and citrus groves.  Dotted around the lakes are pretty Italian towns and holiday resorts.


The Adriatic Coast is renowned for sandy beaches washed by clear blue sea, perfect for swimming, windsurfing or just lazing in the sun. Venice is built on hundreds of tiny islands and linked by a maze of canals and tiny bridges. This region also boasts many other towns and cities that should not be missed, including Vicenza, Treviso and Ravenna.


Tuscany is one of the most beautiful areas of Italy with vineyards, cypress trees and a rugged coastline interspersed with sandy beaches. There are many medieval fortified hill towns to explore and delightful walks to enjoy. Enjoy stunning sceneray and some of Italy's many treasures, including the leaning tower of Pisa and Florence.

 

Using Swiss Motorways to get to your destination or during your holiday?
All vehicles using Swiss motorways must pay an annual tax of around 40 Swiss francs. There is an additional fee of around 40 Swiss francs for trailers and caravans. Vehicles must display a special sticker (‘vignette’), which can be bought at the Swiss border crossings, or can be purchased in advance from Switzerland Tourism in London. It is advisable to obtain one in advance in order to avoid delays at the border. The ‘vignette’ is valid for a whole calendar year and enables you to drive on any motorway and exit and re-enter the country as often as you like during this time without further charge. Credit cards are not accepted for payment of a vignette.
